Differential Amplifier simulation using Synopsys Hspice
Sep 25th, 2017, 9:15pm

Hello,
I want to ask some questions on this differential amplifier circuit that I referred in article "Design of CMOS Two-stage Operational Amplifier for ECG Monitoring System Using 90nm Technology by Moulahcene F Bouguechal N Benacer I Hanfoug S".

1. Can somebody explain to me about current mirror operation in simpler words?
2. If I want to build and simulate the schematic, do I need to add dc current source Iref in my schematic?
3. Iref is input current or current produced by current mirror?

Im using Hspice with 90nm technology. Thank you.

1. current mirror operation - read any textbook (e.g., CMOS book of RJ Baker, Wiley pub.)

2 & 3. You can start with an ideal idc source for initial simulations, but for practical implementation, you need a current sink (which can be a current mirrored from a current ref. ckt, see RJ Baker's book for example).
