large driver need ESD
Apr 14th, 2016, 1:52am

Hi

If the Tx drivers which have large width, do they still need ESD protection like gated PMOS & gated NMOS? assuming total tx driver size is more than min ESD requirement like min 300um

You will still need some ESD for +vs Zap, because transistor drain to bulk diode always give only one side protection..

Best Regards,
Raj.

hi Raj,

could you explain more in details?
why should it need more ESD protection?
the driver has met min length and min total width requirement.

I mean every transistor Drain has it's own diode, so it is self protective up to some extent in one direction, that's why people add big gurad ring so that it is even more effective but this can't add diode in another direction.
