Envelope following simulation cadence
Oct 19th, 2014, 1:13pm

Hello all,
I have recently looked into the envelope simulation available in cadence. Unfortunately I have not as yet looked into the documentation and the algorithm behind it in detail but as far as I have understood it is not used for long transient simulations. For example, it could be used to speed up the  initial settling time of a switching circuit, but if you required to calculate the THD and need a few cycles of input (which is on much lower frequency compared to the clocks) fed into the circuit, you would have to use the normal transient simulation in spectre (Im thinking its a matter of accuracy in that case ) ? Please let me know if Im wrong.
