Microphone Output

Guys I am working on a project with microphone and I want to know if the output across microphone has only AC or is it AC+DC.
I hope my question is clear. Also is it that the output is always positive or does it even go to negative.

I would think the microphone output should be only AC. In that case definitely the voltage across the terminals goes positive and negative.
