IC Design Engineer (TWA Circuits)

Our client, a designer and manufacturer of affordable high-performance components for high speed communications, offering the best in millimeter-wave engineering and high speed digital design, is currently seeking an IC Design Engineer at their corporate headquarters in Wine Country, Santa Rosa, Ca. The IC Design Engineer (TWA Circuits) will be responsible for the design of broadband linear TWAs (traveling wave or distributed amplifiers) in III-V technologies (GaAs, InP).

The ideal candidate will be experienced with both broadband time and frequency domain applications from DC to GHz/Gbps rates.

As a basis for consideration, all interested applicants must possess the following qualifications:
•      Education level: MS in EE in the area of IC design for microwave high-speed analog/mixed-signal IC’s.
•      5 years of relevant experience in an IC design engineering capacity
•      Demonstrated expertise with circuit design tools (SPICE, ADS)
•      Expert understanding of the fundamentals of circuits, transmission lines, EM and microwave theory.
•      High level of proficiency in layout, DRC CAD tools.
•      Experience with time and frequency domain measurements for IC characterization.
•      Working knowledge of microwave/broadband packaging techniques.
•      Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities:
The IC Design Engineer is responsible for designing and developing next-generation products that meet all technical, budget, and time constraints. Duties include the following:
•      Design of high performance, broadband microwave integrated circuits for
telecom applications.
•      Detailed circuit design and simulation at the transistor level, CAD layout, DRC, LVS, test and evaluation.
•      Circuit design of microwave broadband distributed amplifiers.
•      Develop accurate device models for IC design.
•      Interface with engineering, marketing and packaging teams to assist in specification of IC and final product requirements.
•      Assist operations to ensure manufacturability of product designs.

Employment Status Criteria:
US Citizenship, Permanent Residence (Green card) status, or authorization to work in the US without sponsorship required.
