different phase noise results in spectre
Oct 10th, 2008, 10:32am

Hi all,
I just go through the example "Measuring Jitter with Pss and Pnoise Jitter Analyses" in cadence doc "SpetreRF simulation option user guide". In the Direct Plot Form, I try Function "Phase noise" in both "pnoise jitter" analysis and "pnoise" analysis. These two plots have 3dB difference. Please anyone can explain the difference? Thanks

These two plots have 3dB difference.

Latter, "pnoise" is SSB SideBand Noise.
Former, "pnoise jitter" is twice of latter.

Latter, "pnoise" is small signal mixing noise, that is, sideband noise which include both AM and PM noise.

Former, "pnoise jitter" is phase noise.
Agilent GoldenGate give same result as "pnoise jitter" and as another results, there are "side_band_left" and "side_band_right" which are same as "pnoise".
