Hspice or Spectre?
Apr 14th, 2008, 2:30am

Well I am a newcomer in analog design. The first question is which CAD tool to use.
I think accuracy is my primary concern. So Hspice or Spectre?
Please help me and give me some advice.
Thanks a lot!

You had better post such issue to Circuit Simulators not RF Simulators.

Regarding accuracy, both are almost same.
So choose which one you buy according to money you have. Spectre is expensive than HSPICE even though HSPICE RF is included.

SmartSpice(RF) of Simucad is cheaper than HSPICE.
http://www.simucad.com/products/circuit_simulation/smartspice.html
http://www.simucad.com/products/RFsimulation/smartSpiceRF.html

About transient analysis, SmartSpice enoughly competes with HSPICE regarding speed and accuracy.
So accuracy of transient analysis of SmartSpice is almost same as Spectre.

Since SmartSpice is cheaper than HSPICE, it is far cheaper than Spectre.

But I don't know about perfomance as RF simulator.
